Julie Hassen is a clinical social worker, Staff Therapist at Stanford University, and owner of a private psychotherapy practice, The Grace Collective, whose work uniquely bridges mental health and the natural environment. Julie integrates environmental context into her clinical approach, helping clients to build resilience, strengthen their relationship with themselves, and navigate stress, trauma, and uncertainty in a changing world.

Julie has nearly a decade of experience in clinical care and environmental work. She has served in leadership roles including Interim Director of Clinical Services and Lead Therapist, where she guided clinical teams and developed programming in complex treatment settings. Alongside this, she has applied behavioral science to environmental initiatives, developing practical strategies that help individuals and communities adopt more sustainable practices.

This foundation continues to shape her perspective, grounding her clinical and behavioral work in a deep understanding of how people relate to the natural world.

Julie holds an MSW and an MS in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Michigan, and a BS in Marine Science and Earth and Planetary Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
