Damon Watkins, PhD

Co-founder & executive director

Dr. Damon Watkins is a research psychologist who studies human decision-making and uses data and people’s experiences to solve complex problems. As Executive Director of I-CARE, he leads organizational strategy, fundraising, governance, and institutional partnerships. 

Damon has spent over a decade as a leader, educator, and researcher. He served as Marketing Director at the Urban League, using data and interviews to form strategies that drove program enrollment, community engagement, and more than $1M in donations. In the U.S. Army Reserve, he led large-scale operations and training for more than 250 staff. 

As an educator, Damon has spent nearly a decade designing curriculum and teaching clinical informatics to more than 5,000 professionals across a dozen healthcare systems. His research experience began as a Research Assistant at Norwich University in 2017 and continues through I-CARE and through his work as Owner of Brave Mind LLC, a social enterprise that develops products to promote psychological wellness. 

 

Damon holds a PhD and MA in Psychology from Fielding Graduate University, an MS in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University, and a BS and BA from Norwich University. He is currently publishing a statistics book for applied researchers.
